"For I know that my Redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin, worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another" Job 19:25-27

"(If you invite the blind, lame etc to your party)…you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the Resurrection of the Just" Luke 14:14

"Your dead men shall live, together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead" Isaiah 26:19

Job lost his children and property in one day. He just completed their funerals, he has boils on his body, his wife is accusing him, curse God and die. All his friends have turned against him. They are speaking words that pierce and prick. And in the midst of this tragedy, Holy Spirit reminds him of Jesus. And he utters this cry of faith, for I know that Jesus Christ lives, and even after my death, when my body is destroyed by worms, a day is coming when I will be resurrected and in my flesh, I will see Jesus upon the earth and he will vindicate me.

Jesus was telling people (Luke 14:14), to not just invite friends to our parties, but also to invite the poor, blind and lame etc, and then said that such Christians will be rewarded at the Resurrection of the Just. In Rev 20: 5,6, this is also called the First Resurrection.

Please pay attention here, as most Christians are confused about these things.

  • At Rapture, dead in Christ will arise and be caught up into the clouds, along with the living Christians. Then these saints live in heaven for 7 years, and then come back to the earth along with Jesus.
  • When Jesus returns to the earth, again there will be resurrection of those believers who died on earth during those 7 years of tribulation. Basically, whenever Jesus encounters the earth, there is a resurrection. If this sounds too good, this is the actual reality.

Salvation that you have is not just, forgiveness of sins but a lot lot more. This is the portion of the Believers who walk with the Lord. These 2 events are called the First Resurrection. Then we rule with Jesus on earth for a 1000 years.

The Final Resurrection is on the last day, when good and bad will come back to life and will be judged by Jesus Christ. For we must All stand before the Judgement seat of Christ. This is the last day and also called the Day of Judgement. (2 Cor 5:10). These are Real events.

It is very important to walk with the Lord continually. If you are not reading your Bible daily, and living a life of prayer, you could be left behind. As Jesus himself told us in the Parable of the 10 virgins, 5 who are ready will go into the marriage supper, other 5 will go to the supermarket to buy oil for their lamps. What a tragedy? Examine yourself if you are walking with the Lord daily, or a supermarket candidate.

Finally, why is this First Resurrection important to us today? First it is an actual event, and you will take part in it. Events like this are world-shocking, but that is the portion of the believer. The entire world will sit up and take notice when Jesus Christ returns to the earth to rule. That will be the day of your vindication. Also, as we think of these events, the Resurrection power of Jesus comes into your life today. It will resurrect, the dead things in your life – shattered dreams, lost hopes, healing and vindication. May your desert turn into a well watered garden.

Job’s hope for his life, in the midst of tatters and ruins was in the Resurrection power of Christ. He was finally vindicated, healed and restored. What a Blessing to those who believe in Jesus.

You will experience many resurrections in your life time
