In the last few decades, preaching has become very shallow and deficient. The Old preachers showed us grand and lofty views of Jesus throughout the Bible. But look around today, and this is what you find: the Pentecostals are a one trick pony – healing and miracles, and the evangelicals beat the Pauline letters and doctrine to death. The Old Testament is not preached, and even when it is preached there is no Jesus in that. People have forgotten that the entire Bible is about Jesus Christ and his saving grace.
So, I have a one point agenda, to show forth Jesus Christ in every book of the Bible. After Jesus rose from the dead, he appeared to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. He opens the scriptures and explains the Cross and the Resurrection, from various books in the Old Testament.
“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:25-27.
“The Bible is the portrait of Jesus Christ, It is the Prism by which the light of Jesus Christ is broken into its many and beautiful colors.” – John Stott (Understanding the Bible)
It is important to Preach Christ throughout the Bible. Without seeing Jesus in every book of the Bible, our preaching is just good moral class and nothing else.
The early Church preached Christ from the Old Testament. Look at the sermons of Paul, Peter, John etc. Even Jesus used the scriptures (Old Testament) to talk about himself and his mission. We also need to do the same.
There are also other aspects of Jesus which are totally missing in today’s conversations, like the Millennial Kingdom. To see Jesus in all His glory, you need to know these Four views (aspects) of Jesus Christ. (Mind you these views are from the Bible only).
Only when these 4 aspects of Jesus are preached, then the picture of Jesus is complete and true. Each of these 4 views are explained a bit more in separate sections on the website. Christ the Creator is clubbed along with NT & Church age section.
Day of Judgement and New Heavens and new earth are covered in Millennial Kingdom.
Paul preached the Full Gospel, and that’s why told the elders of Ephesus at his farewell, that “he is free from the blood of all men, as he had declared to them the Full counsel of God.” Acts 20:27. Only when the Full Counsel of God/Entire Gospel is preached, then there is real blessing and revival.
All the men of God that impacted the society through the ages, have preached the full view of Christ. You can read these truths in the writings of Martin Luther, J.S.Bach, George F Handel, Mathew Henry, John Gill, C.H.Spurgeon, Charles Finney, John Wesley and Charles Wesley, William J Seymour, Fanny Crosby etc, and in our times in the sermons of Billy Graham, Oral Roberts etc.
Who doesn’t recall the classic Oral Roberts video : The Fourth man.
